WHAT DOES WILLEM DAFOE EAT FOR BREAKFAST?

The title should tell you that I awoke early and to nonsense. Tossing and turning since 3:08, at 4:46 my wife got up and I thought. "What does Willem Dafoe eat for breakfast?" I of course did what any normal person would do. I got some coffee and googled it. There were no definitive answers but I did find out he's at least a vegetarian and possibly a vegan. I did jump on one more "clickbait" site and learned 20 things about him, the most interesting of which is that he went blind for 3 days on the set of the Last Temptation of Christ by staring into the sun and some sort of eye drops.

I'll let this lie here. No deep dive into Mr. Dafoe. Sorry. Not sorry. (Do the kids still say this!?)

April is coming in hot and I'm pretty sure summer will be over right after that and my son's last year of high school will be upon me. Then weddings and grandkids I'm sure.  Such is the way of life, it's constantly accelerating. Gravity, undefeated.

Life's speed and gravity aren't really that related but sometimes (read:most), drama for nothing, wins. For as low key as I claim to be, I do feel that drama slowly surrounds me. Not reality TV drama, but I do, if allowed, make some things bigger and more important than they need to be. I can't think of tangible example yet, but I'm sure by the end of this, it'll show up.

I do think it's related to a phenomenon I thought unique to me, but not at all. I've always thought if you and I were doing the same thing, that my doing of it was grander. More important. A sort of "yes we are both playing music, but I envision myself receiving an MTV moonman (the 90's MTV Grammy). You'll still be playing frat shows." type of vibe. A sense of self importance that's either served me well from an entrepreneurial standpoint, or as a deterrent as an unachievable bar, raised miles overhead. I am very important. Oh, and made me very unlikeable in the interim.

Being very important is a full time job, and as such, full of things like blatant self promotion and looking around at the world and thinking. "Y'all don't understand."  This applies to only the things I want to understand, opinions on food, music, fitness, etc. You (well some of you) surely understand a lot more about the stock market, geopolitical stuff, and likely food, music and fitness. As long as you don't ask me to discuss , I'll allow you to be more important. This is just how it all works.

I have of late, taken it upon myself to try and reduce the amount of drama in my life. To be less "this is important" driven. This involves mostly not having discussions with people on things or if we do, to just let it go. This is the best advice I have given myself. I find that most people get pretty bunged up about things they have zero control over, and waste giant swaths of their lives worrying about them. I can't do anything about gas prices except maybe drive less and use less gas. Bitching about it nonstop just makes me insufferable (*more insufferable). So I don't. I applied this attitude to the recent spike of gas that drove the price to $4.30 a gallon. I ignored it for three weeks and lo and behold, we are under $4!  It really works!

This can be applied to politics, other people's bodies, religion, all news, etc. Disregard these things and wait a while and you'll notice that the world just pops another thing you can do nothing about into the place where the previous one lived. It's endless.

Ignore. Wait. Repeat.

Today's takeaways. Care less about things that don't matter. Especially Willem Dafoe's breakfast.
