Make space

IMG_5676.jpeg

For the past week and change I’ve been waking up before my alarm, feeding the dogs, coffee and then writing. I’ve enjoyed the quiet consistency of the morning and have found that with all muscles, when exercised consistently both the exercise and quality of fitness (writing) improves.

This morning I wasn’t feeling it so I had a cup of coffee and headed to the pool with only a commitment to “make some space” in my brain and day to create, IF the feeling arose.

I didn’t set out to write every single day or for 27 days in a row as lofty, “end date”, goals are good for some things and non tenable for others. A 27 day writing streak is like the whole30 diet. What happens on the 28th and 31st day?  Probably a slow descent back to not doing whatever the goal was. At least that’s my experience.

So now I’m outside of Sam’s club taking a moment to relax and write for 10 mins. (I already used the 9 min metaphor) and today’s message is short and sweet.

Make space to be quiet for 5-10 mins every day.   A poor meal or a break in an exercise program or not publishing a blog post doesn’t define what we are capable of.

Have a great Friday and weekend.
